IPL 2025: Mohammed Shami’s Struggles Continue as PBKS Crush SRH with Record Score

HYDERABAD – May 25, 2025:
Mohammed Shami had a night to forget as Punjab Kings (PBKS) posted a mammoth 246/3 against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), marking one of the highest totals in IPL history. Shami’s 4-over spell went for a shocking 75 runs — the second-worst bowling figures in the tournament’s history.

Record-Breaking Spell
Shami’s economy rate was 18.75, only marginally better than Basil Thampi’s all-time worst spell (0/70). PBKS openers dominated from ball one, capitalizing on Hyderabad’s ineffective bowling attack.

Team Reaction
SRH head coach Daniel Vettori defended Shami, saying the fast bowler is still adapting after a long break from T20 cricket.
“He’s working hard. It’s a tough format and a tough comeback. He’ll bounce back stronger,” said Vettori.
